There are tons of recipes for protein balls on the internet. All sorts of flavours. But many contain tons of sugar from honey, agave or dried fruit.
While that may be great for after a workout, they’re not that great at any other time.
And whenever I’m working with a client doing my sugar detox program, I like to give them treats they can have so they don’t feel deprived or get bored of protein and veggies. Delicious “fun” snacks really helps with the success rate on a sugar detox.
I’ve been playing around for a while trying to create a new recipe that contains ZERO sugar, and still tastes great.
I think I finally did that.
These are delicious, satisfying and 100% sugar free.
Raw Sugar Free Protein Power Balls
Ingredients:
- 4 tbs almond butter
- 1 tbs chia seeds
- 2 tbs shredded coconut
- 2 tbs cacoa nibs
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I like sun warrior)
- 2 tsp coconut oil (melted)
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
Blend the ingredients in a bowl until the protein powder is combined. It will go quite “wet” because of coconut oil. (If the mixture is too dry, add a few drops of water).
Using a tablespoon, scoop and form into “balls” and place on wax paper on a tray. Stick in the fridge for an hour and half, or in the freezer for 20 minutes.
Feel free to change up the nut butter, change the chia for flax or add some of your favorite boosters like maca.
In the comments below, share your adaptation of the recipe or your own fave sugar free snack.
hi bella!!
thanks for the sweet treat!!
i make weekly treats for my women’s empowerment group!
last week we did something akin to this..
but used HONEY as the sugar.
protein powder + honey + peanut or almond butter
plus 1 cup each of 4 of any of the following:
dark chocochips
coconut
cashews
hemp hearts
chia/ flax / pumpkin/ sunflower seeds
GF rice krispies
raisins, currants
granola
cranberries
etc.
it’s pretty yummy – but does have sugar in the form of honey.
I am gonna make yours for next week!!
miss you my little OLIVE Queenxxxx
They sound yummy! Great after your Tough Mama Bootcamp.
